About the Teacher

Ruth Meyer, PhD, was one of the first female undergraduates admitted to Corpus Christi College, Oxford in 1979 where she studied history. Upon discovering James Hillman’s, “The Soul’s Code” in the corner of a bookstore in London, she sold her home and emigrated to the United States to study Depth Psychology at Pacifica. She took classes with James Hillman in Archetypal Psychology. Her mission is to bring the insights of Depth Psychology into education. Her first book, “ Clio’s Circle” (2007) investigated the role of dreams in the writing and teaching of history. Her most recent book, “ Re-Visioning Education: James Hillman in Theory and Practice” (2025) explores and extends the application of Hillman’s ideas, offering practical suggestions for their application to education.
