The “Business” of Being a Licensed Clinician
March 3 & 10, 2026
2 online sessions | 0 CECs | Offered Live via Zoom
Program Description
During graduate school, students may have vague, limited ideas about what career options are available to them after licensure. Most clinicians, if not all, want to make a living from the work that they do and, at first, the “business side” of being a clinician may be unknown and/or daunting. There are so many career options and clinicians just starting out may know so little, and have been taught even less, about the clinical job market landscape and the “business” of being a licensed clinician.
In this presentation, Dr. Szuhay will provide a brief overview of a variety of job/career opportunities that await licensed clinicians; from starting a private practice (and working with insurance companies), to joining an established practice or online platform, to working for a company in a position tangentially related to their clinical training/experience. Dr. Szuhay’s presentation will draw from personal experiences exploring the clinical job market landscape and from his having worked in a variety of diverse environments for years in both the for-profit and non-profit worlds, and the experiences of other clinicians.
Please bring your questions and thoughts. During Dr. Szuhay’s presentation, a space will be provided for questions/open dialogue. Dr. Szuhay hopes that this presentation, and the participation of those who join, will help reduce some of the mystery of the “business” of being a licensed clinician.
