Unstorying Your Self: Self-Actualization Shadow Work Through a Jungian, Nondual Lens

April 7 & 14, 2026

2 online sessions | 0 CECs | Offered Live via Zoom

Program Description

One of the most basic and fundamental jobs of the mind is to construct stories. We create so many stories about who we are, who others are, and why things are happening in our world, but how often do we question our own stories and where they come from?

Unstorying™ offers a glimpse at what lies beneath the surface of our awareness, bringing more clarity, resilience, compassion, creativity, and a sense of wholeness to your life through the power of our stories. At its core, Unstorying™ is a Jungian-based shadow integration process that, combined with nondual awareness and inner journeying, is designed to help you see and understand the stories you carry through life; the ones you welcome and the ones you push away, the ones that mask old pain, and the ones that veil the yet unseen gold within you, and move you towards individuation and transcendence, and an embrace of the Self.

In this presentation, Dr. Nicole K. Miller shares her journey from undergraduate dreams of a career in television and film to the development of Unstorying™ and the building of her business, Minding the Story, and how her graduate work at Pacifica Graduate Institute was an integral part of that path. Dr. Miller will discuss the development of the Unstorying™ Process, along with core concepts, such as Jungian understandings of shadow and psyche, nonduality, narrative thinking, and surrender, and introduce the Unstorying™ Process itself. She will then share some of the foundational exercises and practices of her work, allowing participants to contemplate some of their own shadow stories that may be keeping them stuck, in unhealthy relationships, or in repetitive cycles that no longer serve them. We will also discuss wider applications of this work on a larger community, and societal, level.

What You Will Receive:

  • 2 Live Webinar Sessions with Q&A
  • 2 Links to the Recordings

About the Teacher

Nicole K. Miller, PhD is the founder of the coaching and consulting company, Minding the Story, and the process of Unstorying™, an empathy-based, narrative-focused, Jungian shadow integration practice for personal and collective change. After a career in teaching middle school English, Humanities, Theater, and SEL, Dr. Miller joined Montclair State University and Suffolk County Community College as adjunct faculty, teaching courses in Mythology, Classics, Literature, and Writing. Following completion of her doctoral program, and with a lifelong love of story and its mythic resonance, deep work in the silence of the heart with a nondual teacher, and a lifetime of exploration, Dr. Miller felt the call to step out of the safe, expected boxes of her life, and into the liminal spaces. Her spiral path took her from New York City to Los Angeles, onward to London, the Big Island of Hawai’i, Ojai, Portland, Mount Shasta, Huntington (NY), Silicon Valley, and, most recently, onto the Seacoast of New Hampshire, pushing her to embrace her life as it unfolds. At some point, Dr. Miller recognized that all of these experiences were, in fact, leading her towards designing a bridge to the place between and beneath the stories we all carry, constructing a way to use our own deeply-held stories to see through our storified lives, to the heart of who we really are. This manifested into the simple, straightforward, and depth-filled self-actualization process called Unstorying™.

Dr. Miller holds a Masters and PhD in Mythological Studies with an Emphasis in Depth Psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute, a Masters in Education from Hofstra University, and a Bachelors Degree in Television, Radio, and Film Management from Syracuse University. She is also contributing faculty on the Jung Platform, offering courses on Shadow Work, Unstorying™, Myth, and Creativity, and holds yearly trainings for the Unstorying™ Certified Practitioner Program. Her book, tentatively titled, Unstorying™ Your World in Trying Times is due out the summer of 2026. For more information about Dr. Miller and Unstorying™, please go to mindingthestory.com
